Massa Calls on Randy Kuhl to Use his Close Personal Relationship with President Bush to Call Both Houses of Congress Back into Session...

Kuhl's years of loyalty to the Bush agenda have earned him the right to ask Bush to stand up for Western New Yorkers

This morning, retired Navy Commander and Congressional candidate Eric Massa called on his opponent to ask President Bush to exercise his Constitutional authority to compel Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Leader Harry Reid to reconvene both Houses of Congress and immediately address the soaring cost of gasoline and the looming threat of catastrophic home heating oil prices. As Americans continue to suffer as a result of the failed Bush-Kuhl energy policies, working families need solutions now and not more rhetoric.

According to Article 2, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, the President "may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses." This is an extraordinary occasion. Four years ago, when Rep. Kuhl took office, gas was at $1.70 a gallon. Today gas prices continue to hover above $4.00 per gallon, and American families continue to suffer at the pumps. On Friday's broadcast of WHAM-13 News in Rochester, Representative Kuhl stated that "the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was set there for matters of urgency." Clearly our current situation is urgent, and this qualifies as an "extraordinary occasion" worthy of Rep. Kuhl calling upon President Bush to reconvene Congress.

"Our country is in a true crisis generated by the failed policies of this Administration and their rubber stamps in Congress. While Representative Kuhl may be so out of touch that he does not realize this, his entire career in Washington has earned him the well deserved reputation of standing with President Bush, and I think it's time that he ask the President to do something for the people of Western New York," said retired Navy Commander Eric Massa. "As Commander in Chief, George Bush is the only person that can compel Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Leader Harry Reid to reconvene the House and Senate and return to Washington to address this crisis. Today, I have sent a letter asking that Rep. Kuhl utilize his close, personal relationship with President Bush and ask him to order both Houses of Congress back into session. Middle class America is having a hard time making ends meet at a time when Big Oil corporations are making record profits. This is wrong and now is the time to work out a common sense solution to this crisis."

Last week, Eric Massa issued his comprehensive plan to lower our gas prices. You can read it online at http://massaforcongress.com/eric_massa_gas_plan.pdf

Representative Kuhl has received $65,550 in campaign donations from oil, gas and energy companies. Eric Massa does not accept money from Big Oil corporations or their special interest groups.
